Dean Keeber – Treasurer & Founding Member For Dean, supporting breast cancer charities is far more than a cause, it’s deeply personal. Dean is a founding member and the Treasurer of the UK Pink Firefighters, helping lead the organisation’s mission to raise awareness and vital funds for breast cancer charities. Breast cancer has touched Dean’s family in several ways. His grandmother died from the disease before he was born, passing away when his father was just 16 years old. Years later, his own father was diagnosed with breast cancer, which is a powerful reminder that the disease can affect men as well as women. Dean also lost his aunt to secondary breast cancer. These experiences have shaped his determination to raise awareness and support those affected by the disease. Dean thrives on challenge and pushing his limits. Over the years he has taken part in a wide range of endurance and fundraising challenges both in the UK and internationally. His achievements include running marathons, completing the UK Three Peaks Challenge, cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End in just six days, and competing in multiple firefighter fitness challenges around the world. Alongside competing, Dean is also the head organiser of the Northants Firefighter Challenge, bringing firefighters together to test their fitness, build camaraderie, and raise funds for important causes. Dean has also helped spread awareness through the media, taking part in numerous radio interviews and featuring in many national and local newspaper articles where he has spoken openly about his family’s experience with breast cancer and the challenges he undertakes to support the cause. In recognition of his efforts to raise funds and awareness, Dean was honoured by Breast Cancer Now and invited to attend a special evening reception at the House of Commons in London celebrating the work being done to support those affected by breast cancer. Through the UK Pink Firefighters, Dean continues to use challenge, community, and the firefighter spirit to help raise awareness and support those impacted by breast cancer, ensuring that the stories behind the cause are never forgotten.
